OBJECTIVES

On completion of this course, students should be able to:

a)     Broadly conceptualize, manage, maintain and operate different water-related systems in a sustainable way

b)     Understand the relevance of water to man

c)     Identify the various ways of water management

d)     Appreciate public health implications on water management

e)     Identify the economic, financial and political implications of water to man

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Ordinary Level: Interested Candidates must possess 5 O’Level Credits obtained at a maximum of 2 sittings from recognized national examination bodies (which must include English and Mathematics)

 

A relevant science-based Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution, or an equivalent qualification recognized by the University Senate with a minimum of Second Class Lower division or Third Class degree with PGD

 

Where candidate is not a Science based course graduate, he/she must show evidence of having worked in the Water Resources and Sanitation sector for a minimum period of 5 years. Experienced specialist such as Lawyers, Health workers, Agriculturalist, Geographers, etc. are encouraged to join the course

GRADUATION REQUIREMENT

The duration of the programme shall be 24 months for part-time and 12 months for the full-time.

To graduate, a student must complete all Departmental requirements. In addition, a student must successfully complete a project work to be graded by two internal examiners. A minimum of 50% grade is required for all courses to graduate.

The minimum total credits for graduation from the M.IWRM Programme shall be 35 units, excluding the project.
